Some Common Questions
-
It is my personal belief that we can all benefit from therapy at different periods in our life. Therapy offers the space to slow down, reflect, process, and find clarity in our busy lives. I often meet people looking to prepare for or process reproductive experiences or family planning, overwhelmed due to extreme stress, anxiety, or depression, or feeling stuck in their relationship or parenting issues. I currently offer both individual therapy and couples therapy.
-
Looking at my home page is a great place to start, but it often takes a conversation together to get a better feel. I encourage you to reach out for an initial free phone consultation. If it turns out I am not the right support for you, I will do my best to provide you with other referrals and resources.
-
For individuals, our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, your personal history, and what support feels most important right now.
For couples, I meet with you together for our initial session to introduce ourselves, get more background, and discuss the needs of your relationship at the moment. I then typically meet with each partner for an individual session, followed by continued joint sessions.
Beginning therapy can bring up a range of emotions, and it’s normal to feel apprehensive. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
-
Sessions are typically 50 minutes.
I recommend starting with weekly sessions until we are established in the therapy process. Over time, we may adjust the frequency to biweekly or monthly based on your goals, progress, and needs.
-
Therapy looks different for everyone. Some clients come for short-term support for a particular challenge or season of life, often for 3-9 months. Others engage in longer-term work focused on deeper healing and growth over several years. Some clients come in and out of therapy as life changes happen.
We can discuss what you are looking for during an initial consult.
